The south-eastern part of the Slovak National Museum seated in the Betliar chateaux is the only institution in Slovakia which has prepared an exhibition to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Holy Roman empress and Hungarian queen Maria Theresa. Although a great fire at the nearby Krasna Hôrka castle in 2012 destroyed part of its collection, the museum has restored many of the damaged items and has started to present them in exhibitions describing topics not only of Slovak but also of European importance. The birth of Maria Theresa is one of them.
