Dezo Hoffmann, the Beatles photographer

Dezo Hoffmann, the Beatles photographer

One day during an editorial meeting, a pink envelope from a girl complaining that the press was ignoring a "fab" group in Liverpool, grabbed Slovak photographer Dezo Hoffmann's attention. It was the year 1962, Beatlemania was just about to start and Dezo Hoffman, a Slovak photographer born in Banská Štiavnica, was just becoming their first professional photographer.

In addition to taking some of the most famous Beatles pictures, Dezo Hoffmann collaborated with many other musicians, including the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, survived the Spanish civil war and became friends with Ernest Hemingway and photographer Robert Capa. His life was dynamic and full of excitement. And so were his photos.
