Technical illustration dates back to the Renaissance, when people found they wanted to see what they were reading about. The art of photography was helping with science around the beginning of the 20th century. But it still cannot match the art of delicate hand-painting. In Slovakia, we can trace the history of scientific illustration in various herbaria and encyclopedias. In the middle of the 20th century, it began to be popular in publishing houses focused on books for children. It is possible to see works by the top representative of technical or scientific illustration in TOTO! je galéria in Bratislava until January 27, 2022.
