In May, Slovakia lost a significant figure of literary translation, professor and former diplomat Ján Vilikovský who passed away aged 85. During his career, Ján Vilikovský translated many influential British and American authors like Ernest Hemingway, E. A. Poe, Agatha Christie or Salman Rushdie. For the quality of his work, he has been recognised as one of the most renowned Slovak translators.
The tribute begins with memories of Professor Katarína Bednárová and Assistant Professor Marián Kabát, both from the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava.
