Periferne centra is a civic association, an independent culture hub located in the central Slovak village of Dubravica some 16 km from Banska Bystrica. For over 10 years, a group of artists have been organising various events in this place in order to bring together local audiences and a diversity of contemporary art genres. As well as exhibitions, happenings, festivals and educational events, the centre also runs residential programs not only for Slovak artists. Maureen Shea came here from the USA. And not only because of her art.
