Vote for Radio_Head Awards 23

Radio_FM, the public broadcaster’s indie music station, opened the voting for the runner ups of the 16th year of the Radio_Head Awards. Established in 2008, this ceremony celebrates the stars of the so called alternative music production in Slovakia. The winners of the 4 main categories are decided upon in 2 rounds by listeners. Experts decide on the winners in 7 so called genre categories. The first round of the voting will close on 5 February when the nominees for the second round will be announced. You can choose your favourites from the longlists based on rotation of the songs and bands in public Radio_FM on website www.radiohlavy.sk.

Slovak artist exhibited in Vienna

The first ever Belvedere Art Award laureate, Slovak artist Robert Gabris, is currently holding his solo exhibition in Vienna, Austria. The show entitled This Space Is Too Small For Our Bodies is focused on his exploration of the body in real and abstracted forms. His work deals with socially critical art, especially the Roma community, issues of body identities, ethnicity, nationality, as well as the LGBTI+ and queer community. On display are his early series Blue Heart, a new series created especially for this exhibition, as well as his well-known installation Error Roma Corporeality and Their Non-binary Spaces, which was awarded a prestigious Czech award. The exhibition will be open until 18 February.

Largest display of CZ and SK architecture in 100 years

The Slovak National Museum - Historical Museum in cooperation with Czech Architecture Week and the Prague Castle Administration have prepared an exhibition project entitled Czech and Slovak Architecture. Panorama of Architecture 1918 - 2023. Prepared by professors Matus Dulla and Vladimir Šlapeta, it is the largest exhibition project with the theme of Czech and Slovak architecture in the last 100 years. The special show houses 150 models of the iconic buildings of both countries. Visitors can admire also attractive visual effects on display until the end of May.
