Latest acquisitions on display in National Gallery
 
As of the beginning of February, the Slovak National Gallery is presenting an exhibition of new acquisitions to its collections. Visitors can see works by Lucia Dovičáková, Jana Hojstričová and the Kundy Crew collective. This show has also the ambition to point out the gallery's primary function - building the collection of Slovak art. The gallery management underlines that the exhibition of acquisitions from 2023 is only a fraction of the works that add to the SNG's collections every year.
 
Bratislava presents Japanese films
 

The Embassy of Japan in the Slovak Republic is running the 18th Japan Film Festival in Bratislava. From 8 through 11 February the event will showcase four films by contemporary directors. Coorganised by the Embassy and the Japan Foundation, it will present feature films shot in the period 2013 – 2021 with English and Slovak subtitles.
 
Night of Architecture
 
Faculty of Architecture and Design in Bratislava in cooperation with Student platform, Silgularch and Archtung associations invite to the Night of architecture, urbanism and design. The event held on Thursday, 15 February, will also feature a lecture in English language presenting Tijana Mačkić from Serbia and Scott Lloyd from prestigious ETH Zurich in Switzerland. 

70 years of NOC

Until 21 February, it is possible to learn about the history and work of the Narodne osvetove centrum which is a national cultural and educational centre in an exhibition held in Bratislava. Since 1953, the centre has been running festivals and competitions focused not only on traditional culture but also literature, films and photography. The most popular events included iconic folklore festival Vychodna, theatre festival Scenicka žatva as well as the national contest in reading poetry by heart known as Hviezdoslavov Kubin.
