The name of the Slovak actor of the 20th century is Jozef Kroner. Born on 20th March 1924, he was a member of a large family full of amateur theatre fans. Due to his talent, Jozef Kroner became popular not only with theatre audience, but also with significant film directors – Jan Kadar, Martin Tapak, Stefan Uher and Juraj Jakubisko. On the occasion of the centenary of the actor’s birth, the Slovak Central Bank issued a commemorative coin. The Slovak Theatre Institute runs a grand exhibition dedicated to the star actor in the Slovak National Theatre. Theatre professionals as well as amateur theatre producers are paying their homage, the village of Staskov, the cities of Sabinov and Martin and many others are holding events in memory of Jozef Kroner, too. The public broadcaster RTVS has been screening films, airing interviews, radio plays and features all across its all stations and platforms to remind the public of this outstanding talent of Slovak culture.
