Actor Ladislav Chudík was born 100 years ago

Almost 150 film roles and especially the role of senior doctor Sova in the series Hospital at the End of the City (Nemocnice na kraji města) contributed to the popularity of Ladislav Chudík. Monday, May 27, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of Slovakia's most popular actors. Besides his acting career he also served as a Minister of Culture for a short period right after the Velvet Revolution. Since 1982 Ladislav Chudík has held the title of National Artist. In 1999 he received the highest state award, the Ludovít Štúr Order of the First Class. In the same year he received the Jozef Kroner Award for Lifetime Achievement. For his role in the film Kawasaki’s Rose, directed by Jan Hřebejk in 2009, he won the Czech Lion.
