Pohoda festival kicks off today

On Thursday, Trenčín Airport will be transformed into a center of the music and cultural scene with the start of the multi-genre Pohoda music festival. Visitors can expect a rich musical and artistic program during the three-day event. The first main stage performance will be the Slovak band Para, who, according to festival organizers, is the most requested band of the festival.

A few notable, foreign acts this year include British rapper Skepta, American band Black Pumas, the iconic rock duo Royal Blood, and the British, underground favorite Morcheeba. American rock group Queens of the Stone Age was set to perform this weekend, but had to cancel due to health concerns. Slovak stars like Richard Müller, Adonxs, Jana Kirschner and Katarzia are also scheduled to perform.

In addition to concerts, the festival also offers many other activities. Various workshops are planned like circus arts and pottery, as well as discussions. For example, the vulgarization of public discourse, corruption and media freedom will be debated. Visitors can also look forward to the legendary Street Dance Battle. The 80th birthday of the bard of Slovak literature, Ivan Štrpka, will also be celebrated.

Unlimited drinking water will be available. Organizers announced that due to the expected high temperatures, they increased the number of parasols with seating and expanded shaded areas. They also appealed to the visitors to drink plenty of water, maintain good personal hygiene, wear head coverings and use sun screen. Visitors are also warned against buying tickets outside the official sales channels.
