On Thursday at noon, a memorial plaque of Elena Maróthy-Šoltésová will be unveiled at Kubínyi Square in Lučenec. The day-long event will also include a cultural programme, an expert seminar and the presentation of a publication on the personalities of Novohrad, informed Laura Hancová, spokeswoman of Matica slovenská.
Matica slovenská has declared the year 2024 as the Year of Slovak Women in the National Movement. It is to be dedicated to exceptional women who have played a key role in shaping Slovak national consciousness. One of these outstanding personalities is Elena Maróthy-Šoltésová, a Slovak writer, editor, publicist and revolutionary of the women’s movement in Slovakia.
However, as part of the accompanying programme, a seminar on important women of Novohrad will take place in the morning in the premises of the historic town hall. The afternoon programme will be followed by the presentation of a publication entitled Guide to the Gallery of Novohrad Personalities at 14.00 in the House of the Matica slovenská in Lučenec.
