The Igric Awards, Slovakia's national film and television honors, were held on September 22 in Bratislava. In its 35th edition, directors Ivan Ostrochovský and Pavol Pekarčík won for their feature film Svetloplachosť. Peter Bebjak was recognized for directing the miniseries Matematika zločinu, while Viera Čákanyová received the award for her documentary essay Poznámky z Eremocénu. Filip Pošivač won for the animated film Tonko, Slávka a kúzelné svetlo. The lifetime achievement award went to director Juraj Lihosit, known for Ako sa Vinco zaťal and for his unique work with child actors in Sojka v hlave and Vlakári.
"This year saw over sixty submissions, marking the second-highest number of productions in Slovak film history," stated Yvonne Vavrová, director of the awards. The jury included chair Jaro Rihák and several other industry professionals.
