The All-Slovak Biennale of Theater Photography (BDF) has announced its winners, celebrating the sixth edition of the competition during a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Slovak National Theater (SND) in Bratislava. This biennial event, organized by the Theater Institute, showcased works from 17 photographers, with Robert Tappert earning the Grand Prix for his production photos in "Pes na cesta" (Pavel Vilikovský, SND). Vladislava Fekete, director of the Theater Institute, praised Tappert’s ability to capture the essence of theater, stating, "His production photos express not only the atmosphere, but also the work itself."
The second and third places were awarded to Joseph Marcinský for his portrait series of Maestro Juraj Steiner and Igor Stančík for his staged photographs "History of a Certain Violence," respectively. The student award went to Karolína Korimová for her work "Embodying the Monster," inspired by Mary Shelley’s *Frankenstein*. Fekete noted the winning student photograph's exceptional composition, highlighting the connection of space, gesture, and dramatic expression.
The announcement was accompanied by the opening of an exhibition featuring selected submissions from theater photographers, available for public viewing at the SND Drama Theater throughout November, half an hour before each performance.
