Fruits of Discord, Portraying the Ottoman presence is the title of the exhibition project that was launched on Thursday in the Slovak National Gallery. Presenting the result of 6 years long research of more than 20 experts, it is the introduction to the period of Ottoman expansion in Hungary and the related mutual influences, especially overlaps of Ottoman material culture into Central European art.
The large scale exhibition-editorial output of this topic is the first in the history of independent Slovak Republic. At its opening, the present audience turned their backs at the newly appointed General Director at the beginning of his speech. Jaroslav Ninaj is the third appointed General Director since the Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova recalled Alexandra Kusa from this position in August 2024.
