The international exhibition "100 Nativity Scenes at the Vatican" returns with its seventh edition, this year just a few days before the opening of the Jubilee Year 2025. The exhibition features 125 works by artists from around the world who have expressed their creativity in rendering scenes from the Nativity in materials as diverse as Japanese paper, silk, resin, polystyrene, wool, coconut, banana fiber and glass.
The Slovak exhibition, prepared by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic to the Holy See in cooperation with ÚĽUV in Bratislava, will feature works by folk art masters Jana Majerská and Michal Horník. Majerská has made a crib carved from lime wood decorated with blue ornaments inspired by traditional Slovak blueprinting. Horník made the nativity scene using the traditional majolica technique from 35 elements with different colored glazes.
