A crowd of culture workers gathered on 4 December in front of the seat of the Slovak Arts Council. They were awaiting members of the Board nominated directly by Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova at a meeting that was one of the last in 2024. In front of the building, representatives of Antena – the network for independent culture read their statement. Among other things, they pointed out that since the amendment to the law on the Slovak Arts Council came into effect in August 2024, removing the decision-making power from the members of the expert commissions and placing it in the hands of the 13-member Council, culture workers have been following with great concern the gradual disintegration of the Fund. 7 members of the Board are directly appointed nominees of the Culture Ministry.
