"Once there was a castle..." - Fifth round

"Once there was a castle..." - Fifth round

If asked about their national treasures, many Slovaks would reply that castles and chateaux are definitely something what makes their towns, regions, the whole country in fact, unique. Unfortunately, most of the castles in Slovakia are now only ruins of their previous glory, and we have no idea what actual treasures they once hid. What remains is the treasure in form of breath-taking legends and myths. Today we will take you to North-Eastern Slovakia, to the region called Zamagurie. This time, however, we will not visit a castle, but a monastery that reminds one of a castle, perhaps. Červený kláštor or Red Monastery. And why this historic building? Because there used to be a monk with the name of Cyprián who dreamt of flying. In the next minutes, in the material prepared by Kristína Hanáková, we shall find out whether this dream came true.

We shall only add that the monastery is surrounded by beautiful nature of the Pieniny mountains. Besides hiking and cycling, visitors should definitely try out the traditional rafting on the Dunajec River. And since the river forms the border between Slovakia and Poland, one can walk to the neighbouring country by just passing the bridge over the river.

Here comes the competition question:

Where can one find the original copy Cyprian's herbarium?

We are expecting your answers by the end of June to our email address englishsection@rtvs.sk
or via regular post to Radio Slovakia International, RTVS, Mlynska dolina, 84545 Bratislava, Slovakia.

Nice prizes are awaiting you, so good luck!
