This year, as part of the competition cycle "From the Tatras to the Danube", we are taking you to some of the historic Slovak regions. Today we head to the northern part of Central Slovakia, to Turiec. Some people believe that the Turiec region, based on its name, was founded by the Turks. According to the eighteenth-century scholar, Matej Bel, Turiec was a huge lake that was drained by the Sarmatian king Turan. RSI´s Marika Antašová looked closer on the region and its specialties.
