PM: Attendance limit for all mass events to be set at 50

The attendance limit for all mass events in Slovakia will be set at 50, with this measure applying to sporting and cultural events as well as Masses, Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OLaNO) stated on Wednesday, adding that this particular proposal was tabled by chief hygienist Ján Mikas.

Matovič, who spoke to the media before the Government session, explained that such a uniform limit for all kinds of events is meant to prevent any "squabbling" between individual organisers.

The prime minister at the same time clarified that the limit will include individual performers at events - meaning, for example, that if 20 actors are appearing in a play, only 30 people will be allowed in the audience. The same will apply to sports teams and their staff as well as priests and altar boys. In case of sport events where the number of players and technical staff is bigger than 50 then the event will be held without spectators.
