Experts strongly recommend additional mobility restrictions

Slovakia's Council of experts considers it necessary to adopt immediate measures to further restrict the mobility of the population. They point out that the epidemiological situation in Slovakia is extremely serious and with the current trend, there could be up to 4,500 patients with COVID-19 in hospitals as of 11 January, which by far exceeds the capacity of Slovak hospitals. "Many are already working at the absolute limit of their abilities. 104 deaths were reported on 28 December. This number is expected to increase," the experts said, adding that further measures restricting mobility are therefore necessary.

The Council of experts welcomes the extension of the state of emergency and curfew, and believes that the availability of the vaccine will help Slovakia to gradually move away from pandemic restrictions.
