Green light to speed up vaccination

It will be possible to administer vaccines against COVID-19 also outside doctor's offices in order to speed up the inoculation process, according to a bill approved by Parliament at its extraordinary session on Thursday. Moreover, any attempt to give shots to people not on the authorised list will be subject to a fine of €10,000. The bill received support from 79 out of 89 present lawmakers, with seven voting against. The legislation introduces fines in response to cases of people jumping the queue in order to claim a priority spot in the vaccination programme. In addition, third- and fourth-grade students of medical schools will be allowed to test for COVID-19 on their own, without the need for supervision from medical personnel.

If hospitals fill up beyond their capacities and it becomes necessary to hospitalise patients in some of the neighbouring countries, their health care will be covered to the full extent, with health insurers obliged to issue to the patients the necessary documents free-of-charge.
