Currently, the novel coronavirus is the fourth most common cause of death in Slovakia. At the same time, Slovakia has been topping the list of worst-hit countries in terms of new confirmed covid cases per million inhabitants, closely followed by the Czech Republic. The government has introduced restrictive measures, including a curfew. "You cannot combat highly infectious pathogens with basic tools as lockdowns," says epidemiologist Martin Pavelka from the Institute for Healthcare Analyses
of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. While the vaccination rate in Slovakia stands at around 46%, people are looking for alternative cures. Epidemiologist says, however, that vaccines are the only answer to the current problem.
