Kia Motors Slovakia is set to suspend car production at its plant outside Žilina for two weeks as of Monday, March 23. Kia currently employs over 3,800 people in Slovakia. According to company spokesperson Ján Žgravčák, the measure will apply to all employees apart from those whose presence at the plant is essential. Kia is the fourth car maker in Slovakia to suspend production due to the spread of the coronavirus after VW, PSA Peugeot Citroen and Jaguar Land Rover. The employees of these companies can receive 60 percent of their salary for the period the production is suspended.
