Making the construction of rental flats more effective and addressing the problematic highway toll tender are priorities of the new Transport and Construction Minister, Andrej Doležal (a We Are Family nominee). He will try to get these points included in the government manifesto. It should also include all projects in which the drawing of EU funds needs to be completed. Concerning long-term tasks, the new minister wants to focus on the honest completion of the drawing of EU funds for road and railway infrastructure projects, so that Slovakia doesn't lose any money it is eligible for. The ministry will concentrate on the Bratislava bypass, with the completion of the D1, D3 and D4/R7 highways being the priority.
From the short-term perspective, the most urgent matter is to address the situation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. "We must maintain the maximum functionality of key sectors such as railways, postal services and road transport, while at the same time protecting the tens of thousands of people working in them," said the minister. Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OLaNO) is supposed to submit the draft government manifesto to the Government by April 13th. The members of the Government are due to present their draft manifestos by April 3rd, from which a final proposal will be drawn up.
