On Tuesday morning, the Economy Ministry launched an application to help businesses obtain a governmental subsidy for rent. The subsidy applies to businesses that were either closed or whose operation was restricted due to the coronavirus crisis. As Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Richard Sulik told journalists, entrepreneurs from the Presov region will be the first to have the chance to ask for assistance. Subsequently, each day will be assigned to one region. Entrepreneurs from Banska Bystrica region will come second, then those from Kosice, Zilina, Nitra, Trencin, and Trnava will follow, and lastly Bratislava region. "All tenants enroll and all landlords cooperate," the minister told the companies concerned. According to him, they have sufficient funds at their disposal and are technically ready. Applications must be submitted by the end of November, while the date of submitting the application will not be taken into account when providing the subsidy. According to estimates, approximately 50,000 shops and 20,000 restaurants remained closed owing to the crisis. "The government is doing its best, we are really trying to help entrepreneurs on all fronts who are really not responsible for what has befallen them," said Sulik.
