People living in Slovakia will probably have to file tax returns by October 31. The Finance Ministry is preparing changes to the so-called "Lex Corona" act passed in early July, which was supposed to support the business sector and restart the Slovak economy following the downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In spring, in connection with the outbreak of the pandemic, the government combined the filing of tax returns with the end of the emergency situation. After its end, taxpayers would automatically have one month to file income tax returns. After yesterday's government meeting, the Finance Minister Eduard Heger (OľaNO) announced that the ministry needs to obtain data on last year's management of businesses, and that is why it wants to end the emergency situation at least in this symbolic way.
