On Monday, private rail carrier RegioJet started with preparations for the mass layoff of employees working on the Bratislava-Komárno line, which is demand-wise the fastest growing train route in Slovakia. The company is preparing for the termination of its operations there in December, when its agreement with the state expires. According to Aleš Ondruj spokesperson of RegioJet, the Transport Ministry announced the tender for a new carrier too late and its terms were set so that no carrier was able to join it. Subsequently the ministry has not yet decided on the further procedure following the tender's failure. Ondruj added that the company had to start with plans for layoffs in order to meet deadlines set by the law. As of Monday noon, the Ministry has not commented the situation.
