Slovakia wants to use almost €9.1 billion in the years 2021 to 2026 to reconstruct the most used roads and railways, as well as to eliminate transport capacity problems, according to the reform plan "A Modern and Successful Slovakia" presented on Monday. "The priorities are also to reduce the negative impacts of transportation on the environment by electrifying railways," the document states. According to the plan, the financing, ordering and planning of public transportation is to be unified and better coordinated by the National Transport Agency and regional integrators. In 2023, a single tariff will be applied and, in cooperation with cities and municipalities, the integration of urban transportation will be introduced gradually. The Ministry of Transport and Construction wants to complete changes to the laws on area planning and construction laws, environmental impact assessment, and public procurement in 2022. In the same year, it intends to adopt a new law on public transportation.
