The Slovak association of wine growers and producers has asked the Agriculture Ministry for financial support in the restructuring of vineyards. "We need to have competitive vineyards - planted with a suitable variety and in suitable places to be able to produce wines of the highest quality with a protected designation of origin," reads the statement from the winegrowers. Even though there are European funds that should help, there are too many applicants for the subsidies.
