Scrapping licence fees for employers, shortening the period for archiving accounting documents, introducing a general free trade licence and simplifying the deregistration of old vehicles are some of the 469 changes to facilitate business presented by Economy Minister Richard Sulik (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) on Thursday. The Economy Ministry has prepared a second package of 100 measures to improve the business environment in Slovakia based on suggestions from the public. Deputy minister Jan Oravec stressed that the proposals would now be consulted with employers and other ministries and gradually submitted for interdepartmental review. The proposed changes concern several sectors. For example, the Transport Ministry should scrap the obligation to buy highway stickers for trailers. The Finance Ministry should introduce the possibility to deduct a tax loss for the past five years without any limit on individual years. The package also proposes making it easier to have documents converted into electronic form. Parliament approved Sulík's first package of measures with 114 changes to improve the business environment in early July.
