Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová continues to be the most trusted politician in Slovakia, with 63% of respondents declaring their confidence in her as opposed to 35% who distrust her, shows a survey conducted by Focus agency. Thus, the President is the only politician who has more people trusting her than distrusting her.
Former PM (2018-20) and independent MP Peter Pellegrini (Voice-SD) came second with 46% of people trusting him and seen as untrustworthy by 52%. Economy Minister Richard Sulík (Freedom and Solidarity) ended third, now enjoying the confidence of 45% of people, while being distrusted by 54%.
These were followed by Speaker of Parliament Boris Kollár (We Are Family, trusted by 32%, distrusted by 65%), Investment Minister Veronika Remišová (For the People, trusted by 29%, distrusted by 66%) and Prime Minister Igor Matovič (Ordinary People; trusted by 25% and distrusted by 73%).
Also making it onto the list was former PM (2006-2010, 2012-2018) Robert Fico (Smer-SD, trusted by 19%, distrusted by 80%), non-parliamentary Progressive Slovakia chair Irena Bihariová (trusted by 18%, distrusted by 54%), non-parliamentary Christian Democratic Movement chair Milan Majerský (trusted by 18%, distrusted by 50%). The far-right People's Party Our Slovakia chair Marian Kotleba is the least trusted politician. (trusted by 16%, distrusted by 82%).
The trustworthiness of the Speaker of Parliament Boris Kollár and PM Matovič is thus declining, with the head of the Government losing the trust of half of the people since the General Election in February. As the Denník N daily stressed, in the long term, Matovič came back to the numbers which he had as an opposition politician. On the other hand, Economy Minister Sulík grew in trustworthiness by some 10 percentage points in autumn.
The survey was carried out in November 18-25 on a sample of 1,004 respondents.
