Tourism company Tatry Mountain Resorts (TMR) is to lay off 260 employees in Slovakia, in reaction to closed operations and the complicated situation in tourism brought about by the coronavirus crisis. The collective redundancies should affect 180 employees working in mountain resorts, water parks and management. "Another group consists of 80 employees who are terminating their work at the company due to the expiration of their fixed-term employment contract, the end of a probationary period or retirement," said the head of TMR's Human Resources, Marek Schwarz.
The company operates in four European countries - Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria. Prior to the coronavirus crisis, TMR employed almost 3,500 people in all countries. After the redundancies it will have only 785 employees in its Slovak operations.
