Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok stated that the manner in which the first batch of Sputnik doses was transported to Slovakia as well as the way in which it was personally welcomed by the prime minister raise questions. "They need to be answered. I must be clear about whether we're still following the foreign-political orientation we'd claimed we would," said the minister remarking that he views the vaccine as a tool of hybrid warfare used by Russia. The minister noted in this regard that if Sputnik isn't a political tool, he doesn't understand why Russia hasn't made any moves towards having the vaccine registered by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
The Sputnik V vaccine will be used in Slovakia as an unregistered medicine under special permission granted by the Health Ministry.
