Slovakia posted trade-Balance Surplus of over €2.7 bn in 2020

Slovakia posted a trade-balance surplus of over €2.7 billion in 2020, the Statistics Office revealed on Thursday in its detailed report for December 2020 and for the whole of last year. In 2020 as a whole, the highest surpluses were recorded in trade with Germany (€3.38 billion), France (€2.72 billion), the United Kingdom (€2.14 billion) and Austria (€2 billion). Conversely, the biggest deficits were in trade were with Vietnam (€3.6 billion), South Korea (€3.2 billion), China (€2.8 billion) and Russia (€2.27 billion). Goods worth a total of €75.44 billion were exported from Slovakia last year, recording a drop of 6.1 percent y-o-y. Exports to the EU were down by 7.3 percent y-o-y, accounting for 78.4 percent of the country's total exports. Slovakia's imports in 2020 amounted to €72.72 billion, down by 8.3 percent y-o-y.
