Demand for new teachers is rising. In May, almost 680 teaching job offers were published and another 181 in the first six days of June, which means that the number of job advertisements for teachers is currently at its highest in eight years. This was announced by the PR manager for the Profesia platform, Nikola Richterová.
As compared to May 2020, the number increased by 266 offers. "As many as 65 percent of all offers were published by primary schools (ZŠ). Applicants with a focus on physics, mathematics and computer science are the most sought-after," Richterová said.
The highest demand for new teachers can be seen in the Bratislava region, where almost half of all job opportunities are located. The second highest is found in the Trnava region. "However, schools that need new teachers are facing one major obstacle, which is the low number of people interested in teaching," said Richterová, adding that while in May 2020 an average of almost nine people responded to one such job offer, this number is currently less than five.
