State budget deficit reached €3.4 billion at the end of June

The state budget recorded a deficit of €3.41 billion at the end of June, the Finance Ministry reported on Thursday. Tax revenues grew by 26.7 percent. "Positive developments were seen in the areas of value added tax, in corporate income tax and in personal income tax," according to the Ministry. The growth in these revenues compensated for the shortfall in taxes on the use of goods and from permits to perform an activity and other taxes on goods and services. Income from the EU budget went up by 53.1 percent to €869 million in June.
