In May, most industries in Slovakia approached the levels seen before the novel coronavirus pandemic in terms of revenues, according to statistics on revenues in selected industries in May 2021 that were published by the Statistics Office on Monday. Although revenues increased year-on-year in all monitored sectors of the economy in May, only information and communications activities reached the pre-pandemic level. Industry fell short by almost 13%, with other sectors reducing the gaps to single digits. Construction was less than 3% down.
Revenues in industry in May recorded year-on-year growth of 31.8%, and they went up by more than half in the manufacture of means of transport. Developments in information and communications activities were favourable, with a year-on-year increase in revenues reaching double figures (12.3%), taking them above the level seen before the pandemic by almost 6% (May 2019).
In monthly terms, revenues in May swelled by 3.8% in information and communications, by 3.5% in construction and by 3.2% in selected market services. Conversely, they dropped in two sectors - in industry by 5.3% and in transport and warehousing by 2.5%.
