On Monday, the production lines at Volkswagen's plants in Bratislava and Martin (Žilina region) were put on hold, as part of a planned summer holiday shutdown lasting until August 13th. According to the company's spokeswoman Lucia Kovarovič Makayová, the shutdown does not concern a few hundred employees responsible for maintenance and planning. They will mainly carry out scheduled maintenance, remodelling and technological adjustments to production lines and install new devices. The plant in Bratislava will start rebuilding its body shop during the break in preparation for producing the newest generations of two car models. Meanwhile, production at the plant in Stupava (Bratislava region) will not be suspended at all.
