Electricity costs for households could see a 15-percent hike in 2022, Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (URSO) spokesperson Radoslav Igaz stated on Wednesday.
Igaz was responding to statements made on Tuesday by opposition Smer-SD party chair Robert Fico (August 17), who urged the Government to present a plan to prevent steep hikes in household electricity charges in the face of the latest market developments.
As an expertise-based regulatory authority, URSO won't comment on political statements. "We openly informed the Slovak public beforehand that significant increases in electricity prices on global stock markets will have an impact on electricity end charges in 2022, with hikes for households likely to equal about 15 percent," added Igaz.
