On Saturday, 30 September, Slovakia held early elections to the National
Assembly of the Slovak Republic. The winner of the elections is the
Smer-SD party, with almost 23% of the vote. It was followed by the
Progressive Slovakia party with almost 18 per cent and the Hlas-SD party
came third with nearly 15 percent. The coalition OĽANO a priatelia,
Krestanska unia and Za ludí (For the People) also entered parliament
with close to 9 percent. The Christian Democrats or KDH won almost 7
percent of the vote, followed by the SaS party with over 6 percent. The
SNS also entered parliament with more than 5 percent. Thus, 7 political
parties achieved the required success rate.
