Six out of ten companies in Slovakia are affected by physical risks caused by weather fluctuations, Milan Vanko of the Slovak central bank's (NBS) department of economic and monetary analyses informed, pointing to data from last year's survey by the European Investment Bank (EIB). Compared to 2022, the number of companies affected by climate change has increased by 14 percent. This brings Slovakia closer to the current EU average of 64 percent. According to the central bank, preparing for the consequences of climate change will be the biggest challenge for Slovakia and its economy in the long term.
