Fico Received by Obama

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico visited U.S. President Barack Obama and Vice-president Joe Biden at the White House on Thursday. Their talks mainly revolved around the ISAF operation in Afghanistan, including Slovakia's involvement post-2014, when most international units are to be withdrawn from the country.

The advances made towards the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons were also broached, with Fico asserting that Slovakia is ready to aid in this process. Turning to other issues, the Slovak officials stressed the significance of regional co-ordination between the Visegrad Four countries (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland), whose contribution within the EU has been constantly on the rise.
