Central European countries to help farmers in Kenya

Foreign and European Affairs State Secretary Lukáš Parízek in Bratislava on Thursday officially launched a joint project of the Visegrad Four (V4) group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) aimed at addressing the causes of illegal migration and stabilising African countries. The project's main goal is to support small farmers in Kenya in growing traditional agricultural products. According to Parízek, the project is primarily aimed at supporting 15,000 local farmers in the production of sesame and cashew nuts. In terms of migration and instability in the North African regions, such a contribution will certainly help to make migration flows smaller in the future and to stabilise the situation in the particular African countries, stated the ministry's state secretary. The project will be funded by the EU, which has allocated €2 million for it.
