On Sunday, the legends of Slovak ice hockey Miroslav Šatan and Žigmund Pálffy were inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) Hall of Fame in Bratislava on the final day of the 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship taking place in Slovakia. Together with them, American Mike Modano, Swede Jörgen Jönsson and Canadian Hayley Wickenheiser received the same honour. In the past, other seven Slovaks were inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. Vladimír Dzurilla (in 1998), Jozef Golonka (1998), Ján Starší (1999), Peter Šťastný (2000), Ladislav Horský (2004), Ladislav Troják (2011) and Peter Bondra (2016).
