Farmers have completed the harvest in most areas of Slovakia and are now collecting harvest residues in the fields and preparing the ground for subsequent crops, Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber (SPPK) spokesperson Jana Holéciová said on Sunday. She added that the harvest was still going on in some areas. Holéciová further stated that according to information from the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, the situation regarding soil moisture has improved over the last three weeks. There is currently no risk of drought in the surface layer of the soil in most areas. She noted, however, that there are big differences between the harvests in various regions, with forest fires and hailstones destroying entire crops in some regions.
