Future Prime Minister wants investigative journalists to oversee government

Slovakia's Prime Minister to be, Igor Matovič, whose OĽaNO party won the general election on Saturday, would like an anti-corruption unit in the new government. Matovič added that he could also imagine this unit taking on the form of a fund for investigative journalism, where the media could be an "independent arbitrator". The Investigative Center of Ján Kuciak, a recently founded NGO investigating international mafia and its connections to politicians, posted on its social media in response to the claims by Igor Matovič that they appreciate his concerns, but they are against similar funds. "You can check out the long-term state support of independent media in Hungary," writes the centre in its post. Several other editors-in-chief rejected the proposal.
