Slovaks from Washington landed in Bratislava

An aircraft carrying Slovaks from Washington landed at Milan Rastislav Štefánik Airport in Bratislava during the night from Thursday (26 March) to Friday. Almost 300 people, not only Slovak nationals, were on board the aircraft. The flight, carried out by the charter advisory airline, was prepared by the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Slovak Embassy in Washington, in co-operation with the Czech, Hungarian and Slovenian Embassies.

After undergoing customs clearance, passengers who arrive in Slovakia are transported directly to the Interior Ministry's facilities where they are tested for COVID-19. If the results of their tests are negative, they are released into home quarantine where they have to spend 14 days after their arrival.

The ban on civilian flights from Bratislava airport was originally valid until March 27th. However, the Transport Ministry extended it by 14 more days, namely until  April 10th.
