High performance respirators not to be sold to general public

The Slovak Government at a session on Thursday approved new extraordinary measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, including a ban on the sale of FFP2, FFP3 and KN95 respirators to the general public. Those who violate the ban can be fined between €1,000 and €10,000. Aiming to secure the best possible health care for the public, the bill - due to be discussed in fast-tracked proceedings in Parliament - also stipulates the possibility of imposing some emergency measures for the protection of public health and drug policy. Meanwhile Slovakia has banned the export of goods needed to combat the novel coronavirus infection, including disinfectants, personal protective equipment and artificial lung ventilators. This stems from a regulation to implement the economic mobilisation measure submitted by the Economy Ministry and approved by the Government on Thursday.
