Local floods hit Slovakia

On the weekend, Slovakia was hit by floods. The storms caused the worst damage in the villages of Pichne and Zubne (Prešov region) destroying roads, bridges, fences and backyards." Several locations in the Bratislava region were flooded in the wake of heavy rain on Sunday, with firefighters having their hands busy on 18 call-outs. Their counterparts in Žilina and Trnava regions were most often summoned to drain water in the face of heavy precipitation.

A total of 110 professional and voluntary firefighters were despatched in all regions, along with 40 pieces of equipment.
