The District Court in Banska Bystrica has approved a plea bargain for ex-Banska Bystrica gangland boss Mikuláš Černák in a public session, as submitted by the prosecutor.
Mikuláš Černák, who is serving a life sentence, has confessed to sixteen crimes including fourteen murders. In that regard, the Court did not give him a cumulative sentence, as it considered the previously imposed exceptional sentence of life imprisonment with the strictest regime to be sufficient. In joint proceedings, the court also ruled on Cernak's former "right hand-man" Miloš Kaštan. The court sentenced him to a cumulative sentence of 20 years and one month. Mikuláš Černák is currently serving a life sentence with the possibility of conditional release.
